Bria just can’t leave Amber alone, y’all. Smh. Maybe she likes crying, screaming, and throwing up. Or maybe she just remembers what that mouf do (Can’t really fault her for that!) Either way, she a whole mess.
This is a sample of the soundtrack for Issue #1. It’s for when you know better, but don’t do better.
Theme: In My Feelings
Here’s a little taste of what you can expect:
IFHY by Tyler, the Creator: Does Bria hate Amber sometimes for breaking her heart? Yes. But, would she make a love spell, put it in her pussy, and have her eat it if she could? Also yes.
Open Arms by SZA: Declares Bria’s devotion to Amber and her willingness to put everything on the line for her — self-respect included.
Hold Me Down by Daniel Caesar: Plays while Bria ponders how Amber picks her up, makes her feel special, and then drops her like Andy did Woody.
Power Trip by J. Cole: Did y’all see the music video for this song? Now, I ain’t sayin’ Bria would go as far as J. Cole did in the video. But, I ain’t sayin’ she wouldn’t either… (kidding…heh…)
Session 32 by Summer Walker: “And I need you to know you don’t know what love is.” This is the part of the song Bria sings with her entire chest. And don’t let her be off the Henny ‘cause she might just call and give Amber a piece of her mind.
Green Eyes by Erykah Badu: This plays through Bria’s head when she’s trying to convince herself that she’s not torn up about the fact that she’ll likely never be Amber’s one and only. (Whole time she be cryin’ in the car. Po’ baby.)
I Get Lonely by Janet Jackson: The perfect background music for when Bria is alone getting high in her apartment with nothing but the sound of her leaky faucet to keep her company. Yeesh.
Could’ve Been by H.E.R.: This song gives the energy of Bria scrolling through old pictures of her and Amber on her phone. When she gets to ruminating on the shoulda coulda woulda’s.
Bad Religion by Frank Ocean: You hear how Frank trauma dumps on his taxi driver about unrequited love and then some for an hour? Yeah, that’s how Bria does her friends. That baby need therapy. Bad.
What Becomes of the Brokenhearted by Jimmy Ruffin: Even though this song is from 1961, it perfectly encapsulates Bria’s heartache and loneliness. It just goes to show that through the ages, people have always been down tremendous.
**Sidenote** I wish SZA’s grandma was here to talk some sense into Bria. But then again, she couldn’t even help her granddaughter…
